In June 2018 I was excited to be able to perform Broken Hill’s first Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement. This type of surgery was previously not offered in Broken Hill, with patients required to travel to Adelaide if this procedure was required. Our patient (pictured below) became an instant local celebrity after being featured in the local newspaper, The Barrier Daily Truth.
A number of subsequent shoulder replacement procedures have successfully carried out in Broken Hill, including adopting patient-specific 3D pre-operative planning. It is very rewarding to be able to offer the residents of Broken Hill access to the same level of advanced orthopaedic services available in metropolitan areas.
