Making an Appointment
You will need a referral from your GP or other specialist to see Dr Alexander, if you do not have a GP there are a number of GP’s working at the sportsmed Stepney Hub who would be happy to assess your primary health care needs and provide a referral.
At your initial consultation Dr Alexander will comprehensively assess your condition and review any investigations or treatments that you have had to date.
An accurate diagnosis is critical to successful treatment of orthopaedic conditions. If further investigation is required, Dr Alexander will arrange for this to occur followed by another appointment to discuss your results and what they mean for you.
Once a clear diagnosis has been established Dr Alexander will work with you to tailor an individual treatment plan. Justin firmly believes in ensuring patients have a thorough understanding of their condition so that fully informed decisions regarding treatment options can be made.
For most conditions, a number of treatment options exist. These will be discussed with you so that the best choice for your particular circumstances can be made. Justin works closely with a large network of medical and allied health professionals who may be a part of your treatment plan. If surgery is required, Dr Alexander will walk you through this process to ensure that you are comfortable with every step of the plan.
Whether undergoing surgery or non-operative management, most of the time there will be a period of recovery and rehabilitation. Sportsmed has the unique advantage of being able to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services in house – creating a more co-ordinated and tailored rehabilitation for you.
For patients with hand conditions, Justin has developed a close working relationship with the team at SA Hand Therapy. This is a group of specialised therapists, expert in management of non-operative hand conditions, post-operative rehabilitation and functional recovery and will help you to optimise your outcomes.
